Summer Fun Has Begun!

We are into a full summer schedule now and enjoying every minute of it! On Friday mornings we go to the Grow Mobile – a United Way sponsored traveling preschool. The kids get to read, do crafts, sing, learn letters, days of the week, calendar activities, enjoy a snack, and play games. This is the first year the ASOM clan has attended and they are loving every minute of it! For Taylor, it is the third year he has been coming, but he still enjoys all of it!

Fun at the park!

On Saturday June 9 we made a trip into the cities for a Hillstrom family reunion. All of my cousins except my sister were there with their families. Granted there are only 8 cousins on the the Hillstrom side, but it is always difficult to get everyone together. A couple of cousins hadn’t even met Taylor let alone the ASOM kids. We spent the afternoon at Elm Creek Park Reserve in Maple Grove. It was hot, but there was plenty of shade and great food! I hope we can do this again soon and maybe Trevor and I will actually have more time to talk to everyone.

Taylor had to wear his John Deere hat and green to tease my Uncle Carlyle who is a NDSU grad and an International Tractor fan. John Deere, GO SIOUX!

Cousins – Jason, Clara, and Katrina

When Taylor was sitting next to Clara and Katrina he asked them if the were sisters. They answered no, but we are are cousins. Taylor then said to them, “No wonder you look alike!”

After a strong storm that came through about a month ago and blew some shingles off we finally got our roof replaced. The crew was able to get the entire thing done in one day and the kids even took a great nap with all the noise!

Last Tuesday while Trevor was golfing I was able to have some friends watch the ASOM kids and Taylor and I went to the movie Madagascar 3. Alex the Lion (the main character in the movie) even got to come with!

movie night

Every Friday night is Movie night at our house. Last Friday night all the kids had to get their pillows and blankets to snuggle in and watch the movie. It only took me about five tries to get a picture of all the kids laying down like this and it only lasted about TWO minutes, but it was cute while it lasted!

Our summer is in full swing now. We hope you are enjoying it as much as we are.

Happy Summer Everyone!

Taylorism VII

Taylor started level 2 swimming lessons this week. On Monday when Trevor was bringing him to lessons Taylor was feeling a little nervous. To help with the nerves they started coming up with a list of reasons to take swimming lessons. There were the typical, keep you safe in the water, be a better swimmer reasons, but then Taylor says, “In case you ever have to walk the plank.” I guess we have been watching a little too much Jake and the Neverland Pirates at our house lately. Our Little Runner

Last Tuesday Willmar hosted an event called the Milk Run and Relays. It was Dairy Days in Kandiyohi county last week and this was sponsored by the Dairy council. Anyway, I took Taylor to the event with the ASOM clan and Taylor ran five events and loved everyone! He is really into running now and tells people his talent is running. There was even a mother child relay that we both got to participate in. (Thankfully I don’t have a picture of that, but it was fun.) Man, he sure makes us proud! He keeps asking me when is his next race? I am now on the lookout for some more kids races in the area for him. I certainly think it is a great energy outlet for him and a wonderful life long habit to get into. I think the coach in me may be talking right now. We just thought you would enjoy the pictures.
